Change happens with a well-crafted story and obsession to details.
You may be a seasoned business executive, serial entrepreneur, ground-breaking academic, innovative coach or psychologist, or anyone else who wants to impact the world with your knowledge, talent, and passion. I’m obsessive about all the details it takes to shape your book’s unique positioning, develop its compelling narrative journey, and choose the right words to influence heads and hearts for the lasting change you want to make.
THE PROCESS
Great writing is damn hard work.
I’m not going to sugar coat the time and mental energy it takes to write a really great nonfiction book. Staring at one blank page is daunting; facing 150+ blank pages can be paralyzing. Ask any Nobel-prizing winning author or New York Times best-selling writer—the greatness comes from never being satisfied with the first draft. The genius (and real work) is in the edits.
My job as a collaborative writer is to do much of the heavy lifting of book organization, narrative development, and the critical line-byline, page-by-page editorial choices for you. Depending on your time and interest, I can assume as much or as little of the writing itself as you like. The most critical part of my role as collaborative writer is to capture your authentic voice on the page.
The manuscript development typically includes:
Identifying the book’s niche in the market
Crafting a motivating title and subtitle
Diving into the emotions of the target audience
Developing the “hero’s journey” for the outline
Crafting a compelling book proposal (if needed)
Writing, writing, writing all the pages
Incorporating agent and publisher edits into drafts
Finalizing publisher-ready manuscript
MY STORY
Idea activator.
My first job was as a writer for a U.S. Senator on Capitol Hill—talk about baptism by fire! An advertising and corporate communications career took me into the boardrooms of Fortune 500s, leading not-for-profits, and innovative start-ups where I crafted both brand and executive stories.
Because of my deep experience in brand development and marketing, I can guide authors in creating a book that will attract the attention of agents and publishers because of its unique positioning and voice.
My clients (and a plethora of assessment tests) have indicated my strengths include creativity, empathy, ideation, curiosity, active listening, and (thankfully), talented writer.
I am passionate about bringing new ideas into the world, and giving authors the hands-on literary support to do so.
